My Golf R got lots of stuff over the last week...
Oil change
Cam follower replacement
Black Forest Industries Catch Can
P3Cars vent gauge
New set of tires (blew a tire at 2am in LA last week...)
I did all the work except for the new tires.
Hmm, so what's next? I think it will be Stage 2 time in a few months..

How fast were you going when you blew that tire?

70 mph.

Nice! My GTI got a tow hook mounted front plate bracket, a detail, and my first service. Woohoo!

Also: who will you be getting your stage 2 tune with? I'm slowly researching it for myself, as most of my coworkers with GTIs or Rs have at least stage 1, and there doesn't seem to be a consensus on which provider is best. One is APR Stage 2, another is Revo Stage 1, Unitronic stage 2, etc.

Can someone explain to me what exactly a catch can does?

I'm also interested in seeing this!

How'd that happen?! Debris on the road?

Well, I currently have GIAC Stage 1. So I will either stick with them or go with APR for Stage 2. Going GIAC will only cost me another 50 bucks...APR's latest revision of their tune is more powerful (around 30hp) but would cost me $600

Yeah, I don't remember exactly what it was. Lots of construction going on around LA highways, all the time.
I ended up replacing all four because they were due soon anyway, with 37,000 miles on them (400 treadwear rating)

Damn that really sucks. 37k you got a lot out of them!

Ah, okay. Good to know! Haven't heard much about GIAC - how long have you had it? Did you drive anything with APR or anyone else's tune before going for stage 1?

Nope, I didn't drive any other tuned cars.
I went with GIAC because they had program switching available (at the time APR did not), it was on sale and they tune for 91 octane. If I had to do it again though, I would go with APR.
